Matty the Chef is an American Hip-Hop and R&B music producer, sound engineer and songwriter. His music has been featured on commercial, film, and radio spots.
Matty the Chef was born and raised in Washington, D.C. to parents Adrienne Fairley and Eric McCaskill. His father was a record producer and his mother a talent manager when they met in Los Angeles in the 70’s. Growing up, Matty the Chef naturally gravitated towards music and taught himself how to play multiple instruments including the piano, rhythm guitar, bass and drums. He also had a love for cooking and later went on to study culinary art at L’Academie de Cuisine in Maryland. Although successful, his culinary career was short lived. “Like father, like son,” he later went on to pursue a professional career as a music producer.
In 2008, Matty the Chef was commissioned to produce music for the critically acclaimed independent film, “Jazz In The Diamond District.” At that time he was also working with a budding singer Deja Belle on her solo project. They later married and established Meema Music, a publishing company. In 2012, the two entered the Passport Nissan Jingle Competition and won first place, receiving radio placement. It wasn't long before the two were commissioned to pen other songs. In 2014, they wrote and produced the single “Used to You” for Nia Simmons, which gained international acclaim and landed in the top 15 on the UK Soul Chart.
Matty the Chef and Deja Belle have a daughter together. As a husband and father, he believes that he is truly blessed to be able to support his family working in a craft he has always loved.
